Videography at the 2012 International Salon and Spa Expo
by Robert on February 6, 2012
My partner Dennis Lockhart and I had a fantastic time shooting video at the 2012 ISSE show in Long Beach. Everybody usually calls it the Long Beach Hair Show. Last year I was hired by Scruples Hair Care. This year I had two clients, WWBE – (World Wide Beauty Products), and Superstar stylist Michael O’Rourke and his product company “Rock Your Hair”. Desert Willow Golf Resort
by Robert on December 29, 2011
In late December I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Julie Evans and her husband Donn at the Desert Willow Golf Resort in Palm Desert, California. Julie was lucky to have been assisted by the Director of Catering Euca Burrows White – which allowed the bride and her guests to more fully enjoy their celebration. It was a stormy day but the guests said that it was better than having to shovel snow back East!
For more information about the Desert Willow Golf Resort call Euca at (760) 346-7060.

by Robert on October 3, 2011
I had a wonderful time working with the stylists from Indigo Salon today, while they prepared the models for the Wedding Party Bridal Show at the Hyatt Mission Bay. Randy and her stylists are super-competent at bridal updos and I highly recommend them.WPBS

A Wedding at The Citrus Club, La Quinta
by Robert on September 14, 2011
I was honored to have photographed the wedding of the La Quinta Resort and Spa’s event coordinator, Jeane’ Snavely, and her fiancee Eric on September 3rd at The Citrus Club in La Quinta. It was warm outside but fun and festive inside the beautiful clubhouse at The Citrus. Jeane’ and Eric were married inside of a big heart – shaped with rose petals, by their wedding officiant Jim Kefford of “I Do Weddings”. About eighty of the couple’s close friends and family witnessed their romantic exchange of vows, just after sunset, with the beautiful Santa Rosa mountains in the background.
15 Minute Precision Haircutting Videos
by Robert on September 14, 2011
I’m producing a series of educational hair cutting videos, with friend and master stylist, Denny Vagner. Denny has thirty years of experience as a stylist, which began in the 1980′s when he worked for Alan Bush in Long Beach. Denny and I are producing this series of precision hair cutting videos to help stylists become more productive. A stylist who learns the 15 Minute hair cutting techniques could double the number of clients they see in a day, and thereby double their income. I’ve watched Denny work and I’ve seen him cut an asymmetrical shag in about 7 minutes. And that includes texturizing.
New hair stylists who’ve just received their licenses can learn the simple steps needed to quickly cut a variety of popular hairstyles – including long, medium, or short layers, bobs, shags, a-lines, men’s clipper cuts, and men’s combination haircuts. Emphasis is placed on speed and precision, demonstrated in both step-by-step photos and live action narrated video.
The Palm Springs Riviera Hotel
by Robert on August 12, 2011
The Riviera is one of Palm Springs’ most stylish resorts. The resort was completely remodeled in 2003 at a cost of $75 million. My wife and I have attended several cocktail parties there since their reopening, and we recently spent the night at the hotel and took some marvelous photos on the property.
The Riviera says, “Strut or lounge like nowhere else, in a tented oasis of cool sparkling pools, intimate fire pits and themed gardens, catered to by eager, international service personnel who anticipate desires. Revel in a luxury spa resort hotel, and whisk your senses to the four corners of the world in a California spa resort, both in the exotic and Indonesian-, Thai-inspired SpaTerre and through a signature and redefining fine dining experience that elevates tastes and entertains the spirit. Decadent retreat haven or provocative playpen, it’s up to you. Prepare to be pampered by dedicated attendants, raptured by feelings of escape and transformation, and rewarded for your vacation expectations in this California luxury resort in Palm Springs. Abundance overflows at the Riviera. Take it all in.
Fashion photo shoot in Palm Springs
by Robert on July 19, 2011
Last week my wife and I had a terrific time shooting some dynamic fashion shots near the windmills in Palm Springs. “Windy Point” had been recommended to us by Tom Brewster – a commercial photographer friend in Palm Springs. We’d considered driving 2o miles east to Bermuda Dunes, but we’d been out there a day earlier and we wanted to go someplace new.
The weather for mid-July was fantastic and there wasn’t a dune buggy in sight. Of course anyplace called “Windy Point” is going to be windy, and since there are sand dunes there we got sand blasted too. But who could complain with such a beautiful model to work with, and such an exciting environment?
Fashion shoot at the Del Mar Plaza
by Robert on June 10, 2011
It was generous for the developers of the Del Mar Plaza to have done such a nice job designing the place. After the fog rolled in at the beach my model and I had no other option but to shoot in the plaza, in front of the twinkly-lit trees. Our photo shoot provided much needed entertainment for the patrons of the Enoteca Del Fornaio. Alexis Coons was my model and I have to commend her and her mother Kimberly for being so punctual. Alexis is 16 years old and had graduated from the 10th grade just a few hours before we took this shot.
Caroline & Brent at the Bahia Hotel
by Robert on May 2, 2011
I recently photographed the wedding of Caroline and Brent Calloway at the Bahia Resort Hotel on Mission Bay. Caroline and Brent were wonderful clients and the Bahia is a colorful and exciting place to work. The couple had their wedding ceremony on Mission Bay just south of the resort. As the couple was preparing to exchange rings, the guest erupted in laughter. A big man wearing a camouflaged wetsuit was coming out of the bay – just like the scene in Deliverance when Burt Reynolds rises out of the river. The man had a huge speargun in one hand and a thirty pound halibut in the other. Caroline, Brent, the minister, and the guests all applauded the man and his big catch.
Caroline and Brent’s reception was held on the William D. Evans river boat. It was a fantastic experience cruising around the bay at night. The couple and their guests had cocktails, and then dinner, and afterwards they danced the night away. Please contact Macarena at (858) 539-7722 for more information about Bahia weddings.
